stanislaw: "IGLs sacrifice too much"

OpTic continued their strong run of form by defeating EnVyUs 2-0 in the semi-final of ECS. Following the match, OpTic's IGL Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz talked to HLTV.org to share his thoughts on the match, Nuke and his high stats for an in-game leader.

The ELEAGUE Season 2 champions OpTic got another best-of-three victory over solid European opposition, eliminating Envy in the first semi-final of the day at ECS.

Peter "⁠stanislaw⁠" Jarguz took a couple of minutes to answer our questions about the team and how legit their ELEAGUE run was.

I think we finally proved that we are not underdogs any more, that people need to start taking us seriously or we are going to beat you. Making the finals already is a huge statement, but we still want to win it all and prove everyone around. It feels good.

Let's start with the first map here, Overpass. You played EnVyUs on the same map at ELEAGUE and it was the same score in the end. Did you feel like they changed anything, why couldn't they do any better than 16-3?

I think they are in kind of a same situation as us, where they are travelling non-stop and don't have time to prepare for anything. We know from doing our research that they don't play Train or Overpass, we can pick whatever we want and it ended up being Overpass. We knew it was going to be the same score today because they didn't have any time to prepare.

NAF yesterday said that you are not that confident on Nuke, are you feeling any better now?

We haven't really played it too much. The more practice we get, the better we are going to get on it. We are a little bit prepared, we have strats and all that but beating EnVyUs was pretty big for us because I think at Northern Arena they destroyed us on Nuke, and it was tough to lose to FaZe in overtime on Nuke as well.

We talked about our T side because that is our main problem, our CT side is pretty solid, but it's going to be better the more we play it. I think we are OK on Nuke now.

Do you have any general thoughts on Nuke, do you think it is at a good place now? Did you see any of the changes?

Nah, I hate the map. Nuke is honestly the worst map in the game for me. In CS 1.6 I used to love Nuke but not in this game. I haven't seen the changes yet, but I've heard you can blow up the squeaky door, so after playing the new version we'll see how we feel. It's too early to say.

Statistically speaking things are pretty balanced in your team and you are pretty high up there among in-game leaders. What do you think is the difference between you and some other players?

I feel that other in-game leaders sacrifice a little too much. They worry about everyone else's play and worry so much about the team, but I try my best to focus on myself more because I'd rather be at my best than just be a detriment to the team and not contribute enough. I try to work on my skill as much as, or equally as much as the team in terms of strats.

So you think it's more of a preparation thing than an in-game thing that lowers their in-game potential?

Yeah, you still have to deathmatch and make sure your aim is crisp all though you are watching demos and making strats.

You are in the finals again, it's going to be either Astralis or SK. After ELEAGUE a lot of people were talking about it not being a legit run because you had an easier bracket. Do you feel like this is now you setting the record straight, that it was legit, or do you feel like you need to win again?
